LOUISA HURST
What a lovely little town you have here, Sophie.
SOPHIE
Why thank you, Louisa.
I'm sorry Herbert couldn't be here to greet you.
He's showing an estate to a prospective lessor.
LOUISA
Well, no harm done. It gave my husband a chance to sample
the wares of your local maltster.
SOPHIE
How's your family?
How does your brother like Oxfordshire?
LOUISA
Oh, he had to give up that house.
The local ladies didn't suit him.
My sister and Mr. Darcy made sure of that.
SOPHIE
They have other plans for your brother I suppose.
LOUISA
I just want Charles to be happy.
SOPHIE
What will he do now?
LOUISA
Oh, I expect he'll look for another place.
He just hates the London crowd.
SOPHIE
I don't blame him.
That's why we settled out here. Quiet. Nice people.
And the latest fashions do eventually make their way out
here.
LOUISA
Indeed. I must say that your dress shop was much more up-to-date than I
had expected.
SOPHIE
We're only a few months behind London, you know.
LOUISA
Yes, I did notice some very fashionable ladies around town today.
Like those three in the milliner's.
SOPHIE
Yes, Jane and Lizzy. And Charlotte. Very sweet girls.
LOUISA
The tall one reminded me of someone that my brother was fond of many
years ago.
SOPHIE
Oh, yes. She is lovely, isn't she? I'm surprised she's not married
yet.
LOUISA
...Sophie, did you say that your husband is showing someone an
estate today?
